Sustainable Tourism

Sustainable tourism is defined as an approach in which cultural integrity, ecological processes, biodiversity and life-sustaining systems are maintained by protecting the environment, where people interact or not, without deterioration or modification, and at the same time all resources are managed in order to meet the economic, social and aesthetic needs of people and tourists in the visited region and in such a way that future generations can meet the same needs.

With sustainable tourism, it is aimed to minimize the negative effects of tourism on society and the environment and contribute to the local economy, the protection of natural and cultural heritage, and the improvement of the quality of life of the people of the region and visitors.

The concept of sustainable tourism essentially defines not one type of tourism, but the principles that should be adopted when conducting activities aimed at the development of different types of tourism.

In this context, works are carried out to develop different types of tourism within the framework of economic, cultural, social and environmental sustainability principles and to focus on the local economic development dimension of tourism with a community-based approach.
